Meaning behind the Message -
For this project i will be focusing on the technological age. I will explore the idea of the internet taking over the world and our traditional values and lifestyles. Anther concept which i find interesting is the idea of 'generation Z'. I find it fascinating that there is a generation of youth living in our planet that have not experienced a life without relying on technology to do the simplest of things.
I will use my bag that i am creating in order to confront this idea and draw attention to the technology and its eventual take over.
I will be looking at the different ways in which technology has slowly began to take over the world we live in. A concept i am interested in is the internet and how we rely on it to solve our problems, communicate with others, share and express our feelings, thoughts and inspirations. I will also explore internet addiction and how there are many people, mostly youths and teenagers, who are reliant on the internet and social media websites such as Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter in order to feel ' right' or 'complete'. Many teenagers feel they can not go a day without logging into the internet or using social media websites.
I want to create a 'shocking' image that combines the human birth process and being born into the technological age. I will also look at the millennium shut down and how we are being took over by technology and how it will one day cost us the world.

inspiration
These are images that are currently inspiring me at the moment. I have chosen to design a bag on the issue of internet culture , generation Z and internet addiction. I am currently interested in how there is a generation of people who have have lived their whole lives in the 'technological age' where they don't know a lifestyle without internet access and simple communication. Through this i will research into internet addiction and how the internet can completely take over a persons life and their health.

Controversial Ideas and concepts.
Religion is often used in fashion to portray a controversial message that will target people of all religions , this is because it is provoking and challenges the line between paying homage to a faith or blasphemy. Examples of religions that are used in fashion are Christianity, Hinduism and Muslim beliefs. Religion is has been a taboo subject for century's as it literally divides communities and countries.
Violence is used in fashion as it attracts negative attention. The glamorisation of violence , abuse and death is a topic surrounded by controversy because it is often a subject that we as humans wish to cover up and keep quite about. It is because of this that when a brand decides to use violence as a topic in their shows , adverts or clothing that the brand gets public attention. This is used to provoke groups of people that may be effected by abuse or think that violence , abuse and death are sensitive issues.
War is used in fashion as it confronts the world that we live in where we are constantly at war with one another. Also war is a pretty unglamorous subject and this is a contrast to the fashion world. War is constantly referenced on catwalk shows year after year when military makes it's annual 'comeback'. Using war in fashion is a way of glamourising a world of hate and distructiion. People may be offended by the use of war themed imagery in fashion , art and culture because it is highlighting the flaws of the world we live in.
Androgyny in fashion has slowly increased over the past few years with models such as Willy Cartier and Andrej Pejic walking for runway shows such as Louis Vuitton womenswear collections. Androgyny has took tamer forms in the past with icons such as twiggy representing the 'modern woman' (in the 60's) with short hair and tailored suits. Female androgyny is often seen as a strong powerful statement on social standing where as male androgyny is pictured as weak and inferior to society. This may draw attention because it is a subject that people may have strong opinions on.
Drugs in fashion is a subject is often used because it is a common 'ac
Banky's Environmental message
This banksy image is a environmental message which comments on the turn off of chemical pollutants. Banky's work is often confrontational and comments on political and taboo subjects such as climate revolution , war and politics. This particular piece shows a small child reaching to turn off a switch which we are lead to believe supplies nuclear power. It is significant that there is a child reaching for the switch as it symbolises conserving the planet for the next gerenation and looking after the planet for the new age.
This last image shows Dorothy (from The Wizard of Oz) having her basklet searched. This is to comment of national security and a country left in fear. This image is thought provoking as it shows Dorothy , who is seen as an innocent country girl , getting her basket searched for criminal evidence while her dog is looking on from her side. This image shows the breakdown in modern privacy but also the increase in social security.
From these pictures we gather that there is a clear theme of environmental and political opinions in Banksys work.
This image entitled 'Pledge to the Plastic Bag' shows three children pledging allegiance to a tesco bag. English children do not pledge allegiance to their flag as this is an American tradition , so this is banksys way of stating that England is turning into a substitute of America as it giving in to US consumerism. This image also shows the generation of tomorrow worshiping the corporate giants.
This image shows 'Death' rowing a boat in a murky river. This is to comment on the state of which the worlds water recourses are in at this moment in time. This is to also comment on the pollution caused by oil spills , littering and disregard of the world.
This piece is an ironic commentary on human evolution. It shows a monkey wearing a sign saying 'laugh now but one day we'll be in charge'. This is to comment on the fact that we once where monkeys and we have evolved since but many of our ideology and our views are still as 'dumb' as they where when we was in ape form. It is clear that Banksy is trying to explore evolution through humour.

Seapunk style.
In fashion and trend terms Seapunk is a fairly new subculture to emerge. Seapunk is an 'online' style which is construction from the love of music , url imagery, fashion and sea life. The style was first started sometime in 2011 where a Brooklyn based dj better known as lil internet tweeted to his followers the sentence 'SEAPUNK LEATHER JACKET WITH BARNACLES WHERE THE STUDS USED TO BE'. The seapunk style experiment with the difference between URL an IRL and often use internet inspired imagery in their art , fashion and styling.
Seapunk style is also influenced by seapunk music , this music is a hybrid of techno synths and aquatic sound effects , this style was made popular by underground DJ's such as ULTRADEMON who is a follower of Seapunk fashion and style.
Seapunk has became a fairly commercial trend in recent months as artists such as Rihanna and Azealia
Banks have used Seapunk imagery in their music videos and performances. Rihanna's SNL performance showed a strong use of Seapunk 'green screen' imagery and Azealia Bank's video for Atlantis shows her dressed in Seapunk fashion on a green screen background which shows Seapunk images and doplhin imagery.
Many followers of Seapunk style including popular socialites Lil Interent and Zombella are angry at the commercial uprise of the Seapunk movement.
The Seapunk style is supported with aquatic imagery and sealife imagery. It is an exciting , fresh style that is taking the underground by storm.
